Parker pulling up to his knees

Parker really likes his Baby Einstein caterpillar (mostly to chew on), but lately he has been using it to pull himself up to a kneeling position. Sometimes he doesn't have the best balance, but I think he will be standing and walking really soon! And yes, he is wearing a Halloween onesie in September....he is almost too big for it so I thought I might as well get some use out of it before I have to pack it away.

Cox Farms 2009

We got free tickets to go to Cox Farms on Opening Weekend (September 19-20) by signing up for their email list. So after Parker's morning nap at Grandma Bobbie's house we headed over and spent the day sliding, playing on trains, in corn, and hay, and taking pictures with some of our favorite friends. We also got to go on a very entertaining hayride and through an elaborate cornmaze. Even Parker seemed to have a good time! There was so much to do that we didn't even finish before Wyatt had had enough and we decided to head home. He fell asleep right when the car started moving! We will definitely be making Cox Farms a family tradition!

Playdate with Laura & Mollie

My good friend from high school, Laura, and her two kids were in town visiting so we decided to get together with our other good friend from high school, Mollie, and have a playdate. It was really fun and the kids seemed to get along really well together. I like watching Wyatt become more independent (from me) and able to play nicely with others. Parker stayed at home with Grandma Bobbie so that he could get his naps.

Grandpa & Grandma Polk's Auction

Over the weekend of September 12&13 we attended an auction held at my Grandma & Grandpa's farm in Woodstock, VA where all of their stuff was being sold. We stayed in our usual hotel (the Holiday Inn Express, with free chocolate chip cookies at night!) with Grandma Bobbie and ate at our usual restaurants (Cracker Barrel & the Italian place that I can't think of the name). Wyatt and Parker did very well considering how long of a day it was (we got to my Grandparents's house around 8:30am and didn't leave till about 4:30pm). We put Parker down for his naps in my Grandma's bedroom (the auction was outside under tents) and Wyatt seemed to enjoy running around the farm and watching his videos inside the house. I was able to get a few things that I remember playing with as a child -- the alphabet blocks (we lost that one but I went up to the lady who won and asked her if I could buy them because I used to play with them as a child) and a little people plane. I also got the sign that hung in my Grandparents's kitchen that my dad and I used to playfully argue about everytime we visited ("Behind every successful man is a woman telling him that he is WRONG"). We were also able to get the large fork & spoon that both my parents and Ryan's parents have. Ryan also bought some of my Grandpa's tools and some other boxes of junk that I don't know what he is going to do with! It was a fun but sad time as I watched all of my Grandparents's possessions leave and saw their house bare.
